sources of energy
fossil fules
they are formed from the remains of dead plants and animals buried in earth million years ago therefore they are limited
burning of fossil fuels releases air pollutants and greenhouse gases into the environment. Greenhouse gases causes global warming and increases the rate of climate change which can cause natural disaster's to be more intense
solar energy
solar panels harness solar energy from the sun / it captures sunlight and convert light energy into electrical energy

-
hydroelectric energy
hydroelectric energy is electrical energy that is generated by turbines when moving water powers them
a hydroelectric power station stores water in a reservoir behind a damn. When water is released from the dam . The moving water powers the turbine to generate electrical energy
-
Wind energy
When wind is blown at the wind turbines , the kinetic wind energy is transferred to the blades of the wind turbine causing it to rotate . A generator connected to the wind turbine spins and generate electrical energy
disadvantages : requires large land of plot to be cleared in order to build the wind turbines. This results in the lost of habitats and wildlife .It is also a noise pollution to nearby communities . It also kills birds that get stuck in the blades
Geothermal energy
-
the geothermal power plant uses heat stored deep inside of earth to generate steam which powers a turbine to produce electricity
disadvantages : it requires the clearing of large areas of land which destroys habitats of wildlife and affect the diversity of species . Toxic elements from the ground are also drawn out and might harm the environment
-
nuclear energy
it can be harnessed through the nucleus of an atom . This energy is obtained through nuclear reactions and converted into electrical energy.
advantages : it is a source of clean energy and requires less land space to generate the same amount of energy compared to other sources of energy
disadvantages : there are still research efforts to find newer and safer ways to generate energy through nuclear reactions. It can also be a potential health harm and safety risk to the people living nearby nuclear power plants.

Pressure
pressure is an effect of force acting on an object
-
The smaller the surface area , the more the amount pressured is needed
The bigger the surface area, the less the amount of pressure is needed
