Stereotypes

  • generalised beliefs about a particular group of people

Prejudice

  • Attitudes and feelings towards other groups that are not based on fact, such as xenophobia

Discrimination

  • acts of prejudice, such as racism

Competition for resources

Heightened competition between foreigners and locals for limited resources, such as jobs

Can also lead to tensions, and discrimination from locals

As societies become more increasingly diverse, relationships and interactions between people can become more complex as people have different views

Common space allows people to forge ties and establish mutual understanding with people from all walks of life and create shared experiences and memories, such as void decks

Attitude of openness makes people more willing to take in and appreciate different views from different people respectfully
