Scope
The movement is limited to the nation state of France (national analysis). It was highly concentrated in certain areas within the country (regional analysis).
Consequences
Provided a boost for nationalist and populist parties ahead of the European Parliament elections and a weakened image of president Macron
Revealed the deep discontent and inequality among the working class and rural populations
Motivated the government of France to balance climate policies with economic growth and social justice
