EDS 3280 Disciplinary Literacy in CLD Schools
Our work will be important, and what is expected is detailed out for us, understand the Spitler is here to help us succeed is most important.
Course Policies, Procedures and Expectations (p.4-5)
Attendance is necessary and expected (p.4).
More than one absence will reduce your grade 5% each time (p.4).
You must email or speak to Spitler ahead of time if you are going to miss class, and meet with her before or after the next class you attend (p.4).
Five absences and you fail class (p.4).
Spitler is there to help ensure you pass the class. You can make an appointment, call, email, and even drop in during office hours. Communication is key (p.4).
Work must be typed, edited and submitted on time to Teams app (p.5)
Very minimal errors, should make sense and be well written in a scholarly nature (p.5).
APA or MLA citation (p.5).
Clear date and label (p.5).
Late assignments will cost 10% of grade.
You must be engaged in the class with other student and professor, it is key to a successful learning experience. You must also come to class fully prepared in order to properly participate (p.4).
Our work will be a compilation, completing one step at a time to ensure understanding.

Literacy self portrait project (15%) (p.8).
literacy auto biograpgy, presentation and reflection (p.8).
Must be multimodal and multigenre (p.8).
Reader Response Comprehension Strategies (25%) (p.8-9).
10 RR entries, 10 points each = 100 total points (p.9).
Disciplinary Literacy Strategy Lesson Demonstration and
Reflection (20%) (p.9)
Lesson Demonstration. Teaching a lesson to our class = 40 points (p.9).
Lesson planning form and lesson materials = 20 points (p.9)
Reflection of your lesson demo = 20 points (p.9)
Literacy portfolio (40%) which will include the following projects (p.9).
RR Comprehension strategies = 10 points (p.9).
Lesson Demonstration, mini unit and reflections of classmates = 75 points (p.10)
Disciplinary Literacy Final Reflection, respond to all prompts = 75 points (p.10).
You will pass as long as you engage, communicate and try.
Grades (p.10)
You must pass this class with a C- or better (p.10).
Communicate for Success
Student Voice and Communication (p.10).
We should properly communicate with the professor if we need help to succeed in the course, or help implementing something into our future career (p.10).
It is important to know that our opinion matters, and if there are suggestions to help make the course better we should express that.
