        Australia's Western Plateu, stretching from the west, span most of the country. The central region of the Western Plateu is characterized by arid conditions, making it the driest region in Australia. Human habitation is rare in this region, which is commonly referred to as the Australian outback.
      - Central Lowlands
        
        To the east of the Western Plateu lies the Central Lowlands, which are characterized by mostly flat terrain. In fact, Australia stands out as the flattest continent, with the Central Lowlands being the lowest land area in the country. This lowest point is identified as Lake Eyre, which is not always filled with water; many lakes across Australia remain dry for long periods. The Central Lowlands have large areas of flat, grassy land suitable for raising sheep and cattle. However, the region's drought makes it unsuitable for agricultural activities.
      - Similarities: Both areas experience dry conditions. The Western Plateau is noted as the driest part of Australia, and the Central Lowlands, while having flat, grassy land, are too dry for farming.
