Gameplay
3rd person shooter battle royale where you aim to be the last person standing amongst 99 other players.
A sandbox mode, where you can create anything you want for any type of game mode you please.
Fortnite portrays violence by showing gunfights without blood or gore, players are "eliminating" rather than killing opponents, and death is portrayed by the characters disappearing and not dying at all. The benefit of this is that the game is keeping it's 12 rating down which expands it's audience.
Characters
Fortnite's characters consist as different "skins" to play as, for example a banana, an astronaut, a military fighter, or a fish. Fortnite has a 12 rating given by PEGI and the art style is more cartoony and these characters help to the franticness of the game whilst staying fun and playful.
Crossover characters also appeared, from other media products like Marvel, or even celebrities like Dwayne Johnson or Harry Kane, this get fans of the person or character's interest into the game.
Audiences
Fortnite appeals to teenage males, (13-25) the game peaked during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
