Approaching AP Essay Questions with Ease

Budget your time
Write down notes from the question that there are being asked from the essay. It is said that you know at least a little bit of each question, so just write down an answer. If you get extra time, write down as much as possible. Anything is better than having no information.
Give specific information in the answer
Avoid being general
Using right terminology and explaining processes will show that you understand the answer
Do not offer the tiniest details
Dive right in and answer the question directly
A five paragraph essay in AP exams are not necessary. With three well supportive ones including strong ideas and arguments is enough.
Don't be overly concerned about grammar, spelling, punctuation or penmanship
AP examinators don't take out points for any grammar mistakes, they care about what the answer is. Be aware of not communicating effectively, since the reader might not understand what you are trying to communicate.
Pay attention to direction words
Direction words tells you what to do in your essay
Discuss means examine the aspects of a certain subject.
Describe means to characterize something.
Define means to give definitions
Explain means to clarify
Compare means two discuss two o more items focusing on their similarities
Contrast means comparing two or more items focusing on their differences
Answer each part of an essay question separately
A single question may have two or three parts
Answer each part of the question in a separate paragraph
If the questions are separated into parts, a, b ,c and d, answer the question in separate paragraphs labeled, a, b, c and d.
Answer all parts of an essay question
In an ap exam we need to be sure to answer all the questions being direct and specific. Otherwise, we can overwhelm the reader.
