- - - - Warmer temperatures increase evaporation, which reduces surface water and dries out soils and vegetation. This leads to periods with low precipitation drier than they would be in cooler conditions. Warmer winter temperatures are causing less precipitation to fall as snow in the Northern Hemisphere. This is an important problem due to many water management systems rely on spring snowpack melt .
    - - Research shows that changes in climate create warmer, drier conditions. this leads to a longer fire season. As the increasing effects of climate change and land-use change make wildfires more frequent and intense, it is estimated that we could witness a global increase in the occurrence of extreme fires of up to 14 per cent by 2030, 30 per cent by 2050 and 50 per cent by the end of this century.
    - - Climate change leads to an overall warming of the Earth's surface, and also the surface of the oceans. Warmer sea surface temperatures mean more energy to fuel storms and hurricanes.
