Knowledge and Technology - Coggle Diagram
Knowledge and Technology
Advantages
-
for example books, it could allow everyone in the world to access the same knowledge (global exchange of knowledge)
the invention of various technology for example VR or interactive textbooks allow people to gain more interest in learning knowledge, and people can also transmit knowledge in an interactive and more easily understandable way
easier preservation of knowledge by technology (for example internet archives and books in libraries) --> so knowledge can be passed down to future generations easily
Technology can create new forms and domains of knowledge by enabling new ways of thinking, learning, and problem-solving
Disadvantages
-
-
overdependence
-
if everyone depend on technology to obtain knowledge, for people without access (eg lack of infrastructure or no access to the internet) --> cannot obtain knowledge --> knowledge cannot be spread globally
if we overrely on knowledge that comes from technology, what of those knowledge that doesn't come from technology
too much knowledge through various technology --> information overload --> hard to filter knowledge and obtain the right/accurate/true knowledge
Application
-
knowledge itself is ever evolving. Therefore, when newer knowledge is obtained, technological advancements occur in terms to improve and modify.
both technology and knowledge affect each other. Technological tools contain error which can contribute to an error in knowlegde.
real world examples
medicine
-
VR --> allowed doctors to stimulate surgeries and gain hands-on knowledge on different procedures more conviniently
school
teachers can transmit knowledge to students through textbooks, ipads, projectors (powerpoint)
students can retain knowledge into their long term memory easier using notebooks, laptops and interactive apps on electronic devices
students can exchange knowledge with each other, even with students from other countries, through electron devices or mailling services (technology involved: transportation like planes, and also pen and paper)
