Locarno Pact
1925, Germany signed the Locarno pact, which was a collection of seven treaties
This involved countries like Germany, France, Italy, Britain, Belgium, Poland, Czechoslovakie
Agreements made by Germany:
A. Accepted its new Western borders,
B. Agreed to not use military force unless in defense
C: Germany agreed to give Alsace-Lorraine to France, if they agreed to not occupy the Ruhr again
Effects on germany
A. Increased the chances of peace with Europe
B. Germany was viewed as a country again
C. German nationalists were still unhappy that their country was accepting the treaty of Versailles
League of Nations
League of Nations was created at the end of WW1, in order to provide a space for where powerful countries could decide problems without fighting
This was done in order to prevent another world war
It consisted mainly of European countries, and not the USA, as it wanted to stay out of international business and conflict
Germany begged to join the members council, and the nations accepted
Effects on germany:
A. It further increased diplomatic relations and policies with other countries
B. Germany was accepted by more and more countries as an actual country
C. Increased the popularity of the Weimar republic
Kellogg-Briand pact
August 1928, 62 countries, including Germany, USA and France signed this pact
The aim of the pact was to prevent future war, by getting countries to PROMISE that they didn't use force to resolve disputes
Effect on Germany:
A. Germany was not excluded from international talks anymore
B. The Weimar republic managed to regain stability and become a respected state
