Ferdinand VII, Charles IV's son, returned to Spain in 1814.
He supported the absolutists and wanted to revoke the Constitution written in Cádiz and its liberal reforms. It ended when a military rebellion known as the 'uprising of Colonel Riego' forced Ferdinand VIl to become the constitutional King. Before his death, Ferdinand VII revoked the Salic Law that prohibited women from ruling.

Crisis of 98,this ocurred in 1898 as consequences of the war with the United States.Spain lost the last remaing colonies:Cuba ,Puerto Rico and the Philippines.This event is considered to be the end of the Spanish Empire. It led to the Spanish citizes feeling nagative about their country.
During The Crisis of 98, Sixteen-year-old Alfonso XIII was declared King.
