summary of the Kite Runner
Amir and Hassan live in Afghanistan before the Taliban take over. Hassan is a Shi'a muslim and works for Amir and Baba
Kite Running competition - Hassan runs the kite for Amir, results in him getting cornered and raped by Assef whilst his cronies hold him down
Amir witnesses the rape happen but doesnt do anything about it and tries to act like nothing happened.
Hassan had previously defended Amir with a slingshot against Assef, Amir feels guilty he didn't defend Hassan
Amir plants a new watch in Hassans room, so that Ali and Hassan get kicked out of the house so Amir doesn't have to deal with the guilt
years pass, Amir and Baba are in America, Amir gets married to Soraya

Amir travels to Afghanistan to save Sohrab (Hassan's kid) thinking that there is an orphanage that has agreed to take him

Amir gets in a fight with Assef for Sohrab and gets his lip cut. same as Hassan now
in hospital and Amir is trying to get Sohrab to talk
Farid helps them travel around Afghanistan
Amir and Sohrab get to a hotel room after they loooked at an orphanage and Amir decided to adopt Sohrab
Sohrab tries to kill himself in the bath of the hotel room
goes to hospital again before being taken back to America
Hard to prove that Sohrab is an orphan cos there are no death certificates of his parents
they go back to the US and Soraya and Amir try and accommodate Sohrab as their son
Sohrab goes mute for a while and eventually slowly starts warming up to them.
