key considerations when planning and delivering a coaching session
types of practice
isolated
no pressure, repetition
conditioned
added pressure with time or adding life
competitive
game environment, tactics defensively and offensively
organisation
if numbers are low change the session to fit the numbers
adaptations
regression if you notice players are struggling
progressions if the players are finding it easy
individuals, time, area size
transitions
transitions are important so the session flows instead of it stopping for a while as the coach sets up the next drill
area size
change of area size is important as it can be a regression or progression if players are doing well (closing the area) but if they are struggling make it bigger
technique
can add pressure to the technique by adding time to do the technique
equipment
equipment is important to change if players are doing well or bad an example of this could be the size of the ball if you are playing table tennis
time management
very important to ensure you have planned enough to fill the time. also if you have a certain time like 15 minutes this could limit your drill and you may have to cut some things from your session on the day if time is running out
interventions
could step in to help people that are struggling and give them additional help or give them a tip on how to improve the skill
also if the group as a whole is struggling you can intervene by making it easier by changing the size of the area or demonstrating more then what you did at the start
