PARTS OF SPEECH:
ADJECTIVES
A word which gives information about a noun, pronoun, or a noun phrase. It shows the quality, kind, or degree of a noun.
Types of Adjectives
1. Adjectives of Quality
They describe the kind, quality, or degree, of a noun or pronoun (e.g.:
He ate a
big
mango
).
2. Adjectives of Quantity
They tell us about the quantity of a noun (
Some, much, no, any, little, enough, great, half, sufficient
)
3. Adjectives of Number
They tell us about how many things or people are meant or the order of standing of people or things.
Definite Numeral Adjectives
These represent an accurate number (
One, two, three
, etc).
Indefinite Numeral Adjectives
They do not represent an accurate number (
No, all, few, many, some, several, any
).
Distributive Numeral Adjectives
They refer to a specific or all things or people of a bunch (
Every, each, either, neither
).
5. Demonstrative Adjectives
They point to a specific person or thing (
This, that, these, those, such
).
7. Possessive Adjectives
They denote the ownership of something (
My, your, our, its, his, her, their
).
6. Interrogative Adjectives
They are used to ask questions (
What, whose, which
).
4. Exclamatory Adjective
It is used to exclaim excitement, fear and other extreme feelings (
What
).
