There will be an assigned area for iPads, laptops, and computers for students. This area will be used to teach and practice digital art while allowing them to express their creative freedom.
We Are Teachers
I would also have an assigned reading area with books on famous artists, art history, and tools. This area will be used for story time, morning meetings, quiet reading time etc.
Standards
Use a variety of tools safely and appropriately to create art
Use sensory exploration of the environment as a source of imagery
Create original art that expresses ideas about oneself
Use a variety of media to create art
Use sensory exploration of the environment as a source of imagery
Recognize various symbols and themes in daily life
Recognize that art can depict something from the past (long ago) or present (today)
ART WALL
I will have a wall designated just for hanging up the art we do in class. Before letting the students take the in class art assignments home I will display them on a wall in the classroom. I want the students to feel happy and encouraged when they see their art hanging on the wall.
EASEL LAND
Here I will have an area with maybe 6-8 canvas on the easel. In this area the students may express themselves or work on the in class art assignments.
Art With Mrs. Filmore
In my classroom I will have a few bookshelves that provide art tools. These bookshelves will have labeled bins with the needed art supplies. The students will be allowed to gather their own art tools as we learn more about them.
The desired goal of my classroom is to allow for my students to feel safe and encouraged in their environment. I want to invite student-centered choices and creative freedom in the classroom. I want the students to feel motivated and empowered to understand the characteristics of the Elements of Art.
