EIectricaI Energy
Atoms: all materials are made up of very small particles called atoms. Atoms are classified into three types: protons, neutrons and electrons.
Electricity: is a form of energy that lets neigatively charged particles move from one atom to another.
Electric current: its the flow of electrons from one atom to another inside a conductive material.
-
Electric circuits
An electric circuit is a series of interconnected components that an electric current flows through to produce an effect. There are many components.
Control devices: devices that regulate the circuit, in other words, they allow or predict the flow of electric current through the circuit.
-
Two-way switch: two-way switches have two positions. When we press them, they change from one positionto the other.
-
One-way switch: open or close the circuit when they are pressed. One position opens the circuit ad stop the electric current from flowing through it and the other position close the circuit.
-
Conductors: components that transport the electrical energy from the power sources to the load devices. The conductive components of a circuit are the wires.
-
Load devices: components that recieve the electrical energy from the power sources and convert it to other types of useful energy.
-
-
-
Resistor: a load device that opposes the flow of the electric current. Converts electrical energy to heat energy.
-
Power sources: components that supply the necessary electrical energy to the rest of the circuit in other to move the eIectrons.
-
-
Electrical schematics: we represent electrical circuits with a very simple drawing called electrical schematic. Every component in a circuit has a standardised symbol to represent it in a simple way that anybody can understand.
