Analysis
Define the problem:
3) This leads to poor time management, low productivity and increased stress levels.
2) They often lack the digital skills needed to organize their study schedule, take notes effectively and use online learning platforms efficiently.
1) Many first-year university students struggle to adapt to self-directed learning and managing academic tasks independently.
Identify the audiences:
1) The main audience is first-year University Sains Malaysia students, especially those transitioning from secondary school to a higher education environment that is more independent and digitally driven.
2) This includes students from various academic backgrounds who may have limited experience with online learning environments, educational apps or digital communication tool.
3) This workshop is open to 50 students.
Identify the cause of the problems
3) Poor time management skills and lack of knowledge on how to set priorities.
4) Distractions from social media and smartphones, which reduce focus.
2) The students are overreliance on traditional methods such as handwritten notes or printed materials.
5) No specific guidance on how to use technology effectively for learning.

Determine possible solutions
3) Teach strategies to manage digital distractions and how to increase focus during study time.
4) Offer continuous support and learning material to help students apply and sustain the skills learned from the workshop.

Implementation
Pre-work preparation
1) Ensure that all equipment and technological facilities (computers, Wi-Fi, projectors and learning software) are working properly.
2) Digital platforms such as PowerPoint/Canva, Google Classroom and so on need to be prepared in advance.
Opening briefing for participant
1) Summary of the workshop schedule: Start time, breaks and modules to be covered.
2) Explain the objectives of this workshop and state the expected learning outcomes after the workshop.
Active delivery of the workshop
1) Facilitators need to deliver content clearly and interactively using a hands-on approach such as demonstrations and practical exercises.
2) Use various media, such as short videos, infographics, screencast tutorials to facilitate understanding.
3) Relate digital skills topics to real-life situations as a university student. For example: how to use Google Calendar and how to write simple and easy-to-understand notes using the OneNote application.
Monitoring and support
1) There is a technical support team in case of issues such as internet connection problems or equipment damage.
2) Continuously monitor participant responses through observation, questioning or brief reflection.
Notes and observation
2) Observe the responses during hands-on activities. Are they able to apply the skills taught?
1) Record the number of participants present and arrival time.
3) Record any suggestions given by participants during or after the workshop.
Design
How will the content be organized:
The workshop content will be structured in stages and themed based on the basic needs of first-year students. It will begin with:
Introduction to Digital Study Skills Workshop.
Planning & Time Management (Google Calendar).
Structured Digital Notes (OneNote).
Interactive Revision (Quizlet).
Digital Focus & Discipline (Forest).
How will it be presented to audience:
Presentation slides using Canva/ Powerpoint.
Short tutorial videos.
Step by step guide sheets for each application studied.
Hands-on training using apps.
What delivery format will be used:
A face-to-face delivery format that includes live demonstrations of application usage.
Practical exercises where students try out themselves during the workshop.
A small group discussions or pair activities to encourage collaboration and deeper understanding.
What types of activities and exercise will be included:
Workshop activities include individual and group work assignments.
Building a weekly study schedule in Google Calendar
to help students plan their time more effectively.
Taking digital notes based on real subjects
using applications such as OneNote.
Group activities
which are the students will collaborate on the activity “Convert handwritten notes to digital notes”.
Answering quizzes using Quizlet Live
as an interactive game-based learning method.
Development
Preparing learning materials
Provide a module titled for all the apps like Google calendar, OneNote, Quizlet and Forest using Canva or PowerPoint. For example is " Focus and Time management Skills Using the Forest App" in PDF and slide format. The content covers the concept of concentration in learning, the Pomodoro technique, digital distraction, and how to use the Forest app for daily routines.
Function of the apps
Forest
: A focus and productivity app that uses a gamified approach to help users stay off their phones and concentrate on tasks.
Google Calendar
: a time management and scheduling tool that allows users to create events, set reminders, plan tasks, and organize their daily, weekly or monthly schedule.
Quizlet
: A study app that provides tools like flashcards, quizzes, and games to help users learn and memorize information effectively.
OneNote
: A digital note-taking app that lets users write, draw, record audio, and organize notes in notebooks, sections, and pages.

Title : "10 Minutes Focus Challenges"
Tutorial how to use the apps
Step 1: Download apps
Download and install the app.
Search for the Forest: Focus for Produvtivity app on Google Play Store/ Apple App store.
Step 2 : Initial settings
Open the app and press the "Plant" button to start a focus session.
Name the session (e.g.: Revise PGT436E)
Select a duration ( minimum 10 minutes, adjustable up to 120 minutes)
Step 4 : End session
Daily/ weekly statistic are saved for reference and motivation
After the time is up, the tree will be planted in the virtual forest.
Step 3 : Start focus
Do not exit the app during the session ( if you exit, the tree will die)
Press "Plant" and the tree will start growing during the focus time.

: Students were actively involved in workshop activities such as creating digital planners, taking notes, and contributing to discussions. Facilitators observed consistent participation throughout.

: Pre- and post-workshop quizzes (administered via Google Forms) showed measurable improvement in students' understanding of digital tools and study strategies.

: Students successfully completed in-session tasks, such as building weekly schedules and summarizing notes using digital platforms. Submissions via Google Classroom demonstrated practical application of concepts.

Written Reflections:
Students submitted short reflections on how they plan to apply the skills learned. Many expressed intentions to use digital calendars, online checklists, and cloud-based note systems regularly.(E.g., “I plan to use Google Calendar to block study times and keep track of deadlines to stay ahead in my first semester.”)
Simple Self-Assessment Checklists:
Most students rated themselves positively on their ability to use digital tools for organizing their study routines after the workshop. There was a marked increase in confidence levels compared to their initial self-assessments.
