: Vanzetti had a previous conviction for armed robbery, both draft-dodgers and anarchists
Eyewitnesses:
found lots of eyewitnesses to the crime and some identified Sacco and Vanzetti
lied to the police about their beliefs as they thought they where being arrested because of their connection to the ' Red Scare' bombings.
Their link to the anarchist movement was discovered and greatly reduced their chances at getting a fair trail

it united immigrants in the USA: the Sacco-Vanzetti Defence Committee was set up on May 9th 1920. it managed to raise around $300,000 to support the defence of Sacco and Vanzetti
