Elastic potential
Elastic potential is the energy stored in the stretching of something elastic.
Formula: EPE=(1/2)KX^2
x=displacement in meters
K= spring constant(N/m)
Spring force Fsp= - Kx
Additional
Work done
Work done = force * distance
Si unit is in joules (J)
Translation of energy
Energy is translated from one form to the other
example: i drop a ball from high above the tower. when drop GPE=GPE max
Before touching the ground KE = GPE max
GPE =0
Rubber band, stretches = EPE max
released before EPE max = 0 =KE max
Terminal velocity
Constant speed where an object can fall
fluid resistance
Will affect the energy conversion in a friction based environment
Kinetic energy
Kinetic energy involves the motion which transmits into work
Formula : KE= (1/2)MV^2
M= mass in KG
V = velocity in m/s
Gravitational potential
Gravitational potential is the definition which the object is at a height
Formula: GPE= MGH
M= mass in Kg
G= 9.81m/s
H= height in Meters
SI unit is always in Joules (J) for all forms of energy
