Work Measurement
- Developing the most efficient method
- Determining the required time to perform work
a) Standard Work
Execution of work by an operator using the standard instruction (OMS). Reduces: NVA; Variation; Mistake proofing; Training time.
-
-
-
Highest - Method: is developed based on the work condition, risks, difficulty...
Improve the method
-
- 7 Deadly wastes: Overproduction; Movement; Motion; Waiting; Overprocessing; Inventory; Defects.
-
- Work simplification: Eliminating; Combining; Simplifying
Method analysis
- It is the Layout; Method; Safe/Ergonomic; Quality acceptable?
- Are there wasted motions?
- Listen the operators from the process
- Use motions of both hands/arms.
- Motions should be short and simple.
- Parts should be handled in multiples
- Feet activate devices.
- Place tools/materials close to work.
- Reduces mental concentration and movement.
- Based on data.
- Best = Safety, Quality, Cost (labor/material/equipment), Delivery (right qty at the right time), Customer satisfaction,
-
It needs to
- Be capable and repeatable.
-
- Never included repair, rework setps.
Medium - Effort: how fast or slow an operator performs its activity following the stablished method.
Medium/low - Skill: level of experience, knowledge or familiarity with the work. It need's time to learn.
-
Operator Wait Time
Activity codes
D: Manual work while the machine is down (loading raw parts, closing clamps..).
MT: Time that the machine is running.
R: Manual work while the machine is running (welding, drilling..).
IDA: Inherent delay allowance (it's the time that we allowed the operator to wait the MT after the R).
Man-Machine
- Total Standar Minutes = D + R + IDA
- IDA = [ (MT x 1,08) - (R/1,3) ] x 1,1
- Incentive Opportunity = (D+R+IDA) / (D/1,3) + (R/1,3) + (IDA/1,1)
- Output Standard = (TSM/Pieces per cycle) x JD x 1.667
- Actual Cycle Time Minutes = (D/1,3) + (R/1,3) + (IDA/1,1)
- Actual Cycle Time Standard = (Actual Cycle Time Minutes/Pìeces per cycle) x JD x 1,667
Wage Systems
- Day work = payment done by day and not by productivity
- Measured day work = day work but there is a goal targeted to reach
- Incentive = Measured day work + Output standards*$Bonus
-
- It is expected that the operator performs 130%
It needs to be
- Measurable.
- Repetitive.
- Predictable.
- Verifable.
