metre depends on the number of stressed and unstressed syllables in a line.
the combination of 2 syllables, one unstressed and the other stressed is called iamb.
the combination of two syllables, one stressed and the other unsressed, is called trochee.
a group of two syllables is called "foot". if a foot contains a iamb is called "iambic foot".
