WORD GAMES
Can be highly effective in making the process of teaching reading enjoyable for young learners. These games not only help in reinforcing literacy skills but also provide an engaging and interactive way for children to learn.
Letter soup - Hangman
PHONICS
Introduce letter-sound relationships systematically, starting with the most common sounds.
flashcards, games, and interactive software, to reinforce phonics concepts.
READERS AND STORYBOOKS
They provide opportunities for exposure to diverse vocabulary, comprehension practice and these include reoetition, the seleccion of content that is relevant and meaninful to the lives of the learners, and the use of context facilitate meaning.
Guided Reading - Book Talks and Reviews -
APPROPRIATE MATERIAL
Choose books that are age-appropriate and align with the reading levels of your students. Consider the interests and cultural backgrounds of the children when selecting books.
SHARED READING
Engage in shared reading experiences where the whole class reads a book together. Use big books or project the story on a screen to ensure visibility for all students.
PRINT SIZE AND CONFIGURATION
Reading is easier when print size is larger than when it is smaller. Configuration refers to the shape of letters within a word.
Words composed of block or uppercase letters are more difficult to read than words composed of lowercase letters.
