omeprazol, Digoxin, Ibuprofen/ Asperin, Corticosteroids, Atropine - …
omeprazol
treats gastric uclears and GORD ( pain in the stomach and intestines). GORD is stomach acid moves up the throat.
-
-
contradicitons: omeprazol is not suitable for people with hepatic impairment ( liver problems) and masks the symptoms of other gastric diseases.
Action of mechanism is the proton pump inhibitor or H+/K+ ATPase Pump in the perial cells blocks acid secretion
-
-
Digoxin
-
-
-
-
mechanism of action - reversibly inhibits the Na-K ATPase enzyme pump - this increases the intracellular sodium and increases calcium in the myocardial cells - increasing the contractile force of the heart
-
-
-
Ibuprofen/ Asperin
pain, fever and inflammation
non steriod anti inflammantory drug and works by reducing hormones that causes pain and swelling in the body
-
-
mechnaism of action - ibuporfen is a COX inhibitor - inhibits the Cox1 and Cox 2 - inhibition of Cox 2 causes a decrease in the activity of the prostglandins and involved in mediating inflammation
-
-
-
Corticosteroids
treats asthma, allergies and COPD
administered orally, inhales, injected or topical ( placed on the skin)
mechanism of action: when corticosteroids enter the cells, it binds to glucosteroid receptors , acts as a transcription factor in the nucleus , this regulates gene expression, supressing pro inflammatroy genes and immune system. this leads to anti inflammatory and immunesupressive effects. which reduces mucus secretion
eliminated through the urine as corticosteroids go through enzymatic transformation increasing water solubility
