Restatement of Thesis
Purpose: Reminds the reader of the main argument or central claim.
Content: A rephrased version of the thesis statement, emphasizing the core message without repeating it verbatim.
Summary of Key Points
Purpose: Recaps the main ideas presented in the body paragraphs.
Content: Concisely reviews the supporting details and major arguments made throughout the essay.
Body Paragraphs :
The body paragraphs of an essay make up the main part of the text, where the writer develops and supports the central thesis statement. Typically, an essay consists of multiple body paragraphs, each following a similar structure:
Topic Sentence
Purpose: Introduces the main idea or argument of the paragraph.
Content: Clearly states the focus of the paragraph and its relation to the overall thesis.
Supporting Details
Purpose: Provides evidence, examples, facts, or quotes that support the topic sentence.
Content: Specific information that reinforces and validates the main idea presented in the topic sentence.
Analysis/Explanation
Purpose: Interprets or explains the significance of the supporting details.
Content: Demonstrates how the evidence supports the main argument and helps the reader understand the writer's perspective.
Transition Sentences
Purpose: Connects the current paragraph to the next one, maintaining a logical flow.
Content: Bridges the ideas between paragraphs, showing the relationship between different aspects of the essay.
