Life cycle
SEXUAL

Either thick walled 80%( released out in the fecal sample to the environment) or thin walled 20% ( auto infection)

4 merozoites from Type II meront, it will result in formation of microgamont and macrogamont
ASEXUAL
After cyst enters , attached to the intestinal wall . Cyst wall is broken down by gastric juices
Sporozoites released out, it transform to a trophozoite forms

PATHOGENESIS
-
Immunocompromised individual develop prolonged, life threatening , cholera - like illness
Immunocompetent individual - short term , self - limiting diarrhoea lasting approximately for weeks
Respiratory cryptosporidiosis, cholecystitis, hepatitis, pancreatitis
TREATMENT

Antimicrobial agents for cryptosporidiosis - spiramycin , Azithromycin, paromycin, diclairal, letrauril
