LRNI – meets the needs of some of the population but not everyone= normally of 2.5 % of population. Vitamin A - intake are low particularly in older boys and girls. 18% getting the LRNI - milk is aa good resource of vitamin A. Younger kids fall below LRNI with Iodine and Zinc
All the older groups have LRNI of most micronutrients as they are not consuming enough of them
foods high in magnesium - greens, nuts, seeds, dry beans, whole grains, wheat germ, wheat and oat bran. Potassium - bananas, such as avocados, sweet potatoes, spinach, watermelon. Selenium - Brazil nuts, fish, ham, eggs. Iodine - seaweed, cod, iodized salt and nonfat milk. Zinc -oysters, grass fed beef, beef liver and lamb. Vitamin A - Liver, Liverwurst, cod liver oil and carrots. Riboflavin - beef liver, breakfast cereals, diary and beef. Iron - canned clams, fortified cereals, dark chocolate. Calcium - seeds, dairy, sardines and salmon.
