Step 4
First scene should FADE IN
Have a scene heading
Have explanation of what the scene setting is
Film editing instructions should go down the right hand side
Step 1
Font : Courier New
Size : 12 points
Have title page centred and underlined
Write who has written the script.
Step 2
Create a slug line before each scene (in CAPS)
Mention whether the scene taking place inside (INT) or outside (EXT)
Mention who is in the scene
Mention where the scene takes place
Time of day (DAY or NIGHT)
Step 3
Each page should take up a minute of screen time
Step 5
Characters must CAPS LOCK
Before each part of dialogue the characters name should be written in CAPS LOCK and centred on the page
Each line of speech is centred and written underneath

Step 6
Dialogue should reflect characters personality and move the story on
Thinking whether this dialogue add to the character / story
If the idea blank, scrap it
Step 7
Capture the subtext of the situation
For example if a character is trying to say “I need you” have them say it without actually saying it like “Charles, ...do you really have to go so soon?"
