Metaphor A figure of speech that involves making an implicit comparison between two unlike things by stating that one thing is another.

Metonymy A figure of speech where one word or phrase is substituted with another with which it is closely associated.
Example: "The pen is mightier than the sword." Here, "the pen" represents writing, and "the sword" represents military force.
