Eye surgery can be used to remove part of the humours if there is a lot of scar tissue or a significant bleed into the eye.

If Retinopathy is detected in the early stages
of the condition, lifestyle changes to prevent further damage are the main treatment
Ensuring close control of blood glucose levels by regular monitoring and taking prescribed diabetic medications.
Management of blood pressure and cholesterol levels by weight loss, increasing exercise and reducing salt and fat in the diet.

Retinopathy is a complication of diabetes. High blood glucose levels cause damage to the blood vessels within the retina.
Over time these small vessels can narrow and bleed into the humours meaning parts of the retina may lose blood supply and die.
