What is pollution?
Pollution is when something is added to the environment that is harmful or poisonous
There are different types of pollution:
air pollution
water pollution
soil pollution
noise pollution
smoke from cars, burning fossil fuels, industrial chemicals, wildfires, and volcanoes make the air dirty and hard to breathe
fossil fuels are oil, coal and natural gases: burning fossil fuels is very dangerous for the environment and our health!
air pollution is responsible for global warming and the greenhouse effect
consequences are: melting ice caps, rise in the sea levels, climate change
dirty particles substances or chemicals are discharged indirectly or directly into the rivers, the seas, the oceans;
oil is a big pollutant
destruction of the land, caused by solid waste, chemicals
and other toxic substances
any disturbing sound that affects the health and well-being of humans and other organisms; it damages our hearing
what is the greenhouse effect?
We need energy for all human activities. Energy is produced by burning gas, oil or coal: the so-called fossil fuels. When we burn them, we release tons and tons of gas in the atmosphere, and these gases form a kind of ugly and dirty roof that retains heat: this is called greenhouse effect Link Title
The greenhouse effect is a process that occurs when gases in Earth's atmosphere trap the Sun's heat. This process makes Earth much warmer than it would be without an atmosphere. The greenhouse effect is one of the things that makes Earth a comfortable place to live.
Solutions:
What can we do to stop the climate change and protect the environment?Link Title
Practice the 3 Rs:
recycle, reuse and reduce
Recycling means to separate plastic metal glass paper organics and batteries in the corresponding waste bins
Reuse: for example, to donate clothes in good condition that you no longer use so another child can reuse them
Reduce: to use fewer products that pollute a lot like plastic
Save water and save energy
Use clean energies obtained from the sun or the wind and other clean energy sources
Walking or cycling or using public transport instead of the car
Turning off the lights and devices you are not using (pc, tv, etc.)
Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth or hands and having a shower for the duration of one song

WASTE SEPARATION
How do we separate our waste?
different groups:
Organic includes food, grass and
tea bags.
Paper includes newspapers, magazines and cereal packets.
Plastic includes plastic bottles and containers.
Glass includes bottles, jars and containers made of glass.
General waste are all things we can't recycle
Goal 12 - Agenda 2023:
ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
When we look out of the window, we see what the weather is like today (sunny? cloudy? windy? etc.).
The weather is only temporary.
Climate describes the weather conditions of an entire area for many, many years!
