Biography
James Matthew Barrie was born in Kirriemuir, Angus, to a conservative Calvinist family.
His mother, Margaret Ogilvy, assumed her deceased mother's household responsibilities at the age of eight.
His father, David Barrie, was a modestly successful weaver. Barrie was the ninth child of ten children.
Barrie knew that he wished to follow a career as an author. However, his family attempted to persuade him to choose a profession such as the ministry.
The character of "Peter Pan" first appeared in The Little White Bird. The novel was published in the UK by Hodder & Stoughton in 1902,

James Matthew "J. M." Barrie was a Scottish novelist and playwright. He had a distinguished career, but is primarily remembered for creating Peter Pan and his. supporting characters He used the character of Pan in the novel "The Little White Bird" (1902), the stage play "Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up" (1904). the novel "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens" (1906), the play "When Wendy Grew Up - An Afterthought" (1908), and the novel "Peter and Wendy" (1911).
