1.INTRODUCTION
I've chosen this topic due to the high relevance it has in today's society, a globalised world connected thanks to technological advances which have enabled humans to communicate with people from every corner of the globe at any moment.
On the internet, English serves as a bridge between countries, acting as a lingua franca. In fact, Crystal (2012) points out that English has become the first global language in the world due to the power of the people who spoke it.
Therefore, we must follow the recommendations of both the Spanish and Andalusian laws on Education, helping our students to fully develop what Canale and Swain (1980) called the "Communicative Competence". This skill will allow learners to understand and produce accurate sentences in a language, making them aware of those words that were passed down to English from Latin.
