Micro - Organisms - Raina 6-B
They are the most common living organisms and are mostly uni-cellular. They are found in colonies.
Types
Bacteria
No nucleus, but they have cytoplasm
They reproduce by dividing
Slime capsule protects it
It performs all the characteristics of life
It has genetic material, extra is called Plasmid
It has a cell wall, cell membrane, plasmid and flagela
Flagela beats to cause movement
Virus
They have a protein coat and genetic material (RNA/DNA)
Found everywhere
Invade bodies and turn them into virus-making factories
Fungi
Present in form of networks - Hyphae, they absorb food
Have a cell wall + membrane
They don't make their own food
They reproduce using spores (tiny, microscopic structures)
Only reproduce in dark, damp conditions
Ways Of Observing Them
Microscopes
Through cultures in the form of colonies
Uses
Food
cheese
bread
curd
