A: In conclusion, McDonalds should use a transnational strategy rather than global and franchising
J: This is because the transnational strategy allows the business to achieve further growth into international markets rather than be limited to one market with global and franchising. This way if there was a shift in demographic changes McDonalds profit would be less affected as they have other products to rely on.
M: The most important reason why they should use a transnational strategy is because while costs can increase from differentiation, transnational companies have methods that can be put in place to deal with the pressure for cost reductions. For example, products can be manufactured with the same components with the final product being differentiated for the specific market
I: However, this depends on how well the overall mission is understood by marketing staff- considering transnational strategy limits the ability of implementation from the organisational structure, if the need for high costs and high local responsiveness is not made clear to staff the theming may get lost in design of the products.
As well as this, it also depends on how well the new country invested in takes the products. If the country's cultural differences are misunderstood then the cost increases made for differentiation will be a waste as sales would not have grown.
