      - Conventional Level
        
        Stage 1: 'Good boy attitude' Individuals win approval by being a 'good person'
        
        Stage 2: Law and order orientation. Individuals learn to obey society's rules and seek to avoid guilt.
        
        Postconventional Level
        
        Recognising that societal needs outweigh individual needs
        
        Moves their perspective beyond their own society

      - Controls urges and desires incorporated from parental and societal standards
        
        Feeling of guilt for going against the standards set out in the superego
