Identifying the current problems in San Francisco
Immigrants turn to the Cartel to help them get into America
In return for getting the across the country the cartel makes immigrants smuggle deadly drugs such as fentanyl into the country
Immigrants sells these drugs to addicts, homeless, and others in large cities to pay back the cartel
immigrants don't have a say weather or not they want to proceed with smuggling drugs because they want to immigrate
smuggling drugs can bring harm/danger to them as they may break and accidentally consume the drug or get caught smuggling drugs
according to azcentral.com "Smugglers, known as “coyotes,” exploit migrants for thousands of dollars to take them across the U.S.-Mexico border, and, sometimes, extort them into carrying drugs, experts say".
Drug use
Drug Use
The people begin to cause havoc, steal, and some even die on the streets
People who live in the communities around them such as the Tenderloin and Fillmore, are highly affected
Their environments are dirty and their mental and physical safeties are put at risk
This continues to affect the neighborhood for generations and creates other issues such as disease and crime
"Since the state began its increased law enforcement efforts in San Francisco on May 1, 2023, the CHP has seized 18.5 kilos of fentanyl and made 364 felony and misdemeanor arrests in the Tenderloin and the surrounding area" according to gov.ca.com
We can see from many articles and papers that because business has been dying, more and more people and companies are moving out of the downtown area. Therefore there are less people coming to areas like downtown or near the tenderloin. Meaning that most of the people we see in those areas are the unhoused and those dealing with drug issues who have been doing robberies and committing crimes so the stealing and misdemeanors seem more prominent ow more than ever.
The cartel becomes richer while the addicted become more addicted
People who are addicted to these drugs become consumed by them
