Coexisting Together
The problem with interacting with deer is that they are constantly spooked and will run away if they hear or see anything.
The best way of interacting with deer would be to keep your distance and move slowly and speaking softly to avoid startling them.
Deer are afraid of others and are not aggressive. They will tend to run away and since they are herbivores will not bite other animals or humans. Being exposed to them is normal as they tend to live in suburban places and cause no harm.

The most common form of communication between deer to deer would be through the use of their tails. Deer, especially white tailed, tend to use their tails to communicate and the movement of their tails explains their current thoughts about a situation.
Habitat
Deer tend to live in forested areas filled with many trees and tend to be filled with small water sources like rivers. Many deer are sighted in Northern areas where there is cold climates.
