Moss (Gametophyte):developing embryo undergoes mitosis, forming a long diploid stalk, seta, atop which can be found a capsule (aka sporangium) within which meiosis occurs, producing spores. Occasionally, the capsule is still surrounded by a cap of maternal tissue, calyptra. Once the spores disperse, they germinate into a filamentous protonema prior to forming a mature gametophyte.
