Climate change
The Greenhouse effect
Human actions causing climate change
COP28
Many natural events such as volcanic eruptions cause huge amounts of greenhouse gases to be released into the atmosphere. They are called greenhouse gases because they have the same effect as the glass in a greenhouse. The Sunlight from the sun breaches the greenhouse glass but once it tries to escape some of it becomes trapped, warming our planet.

Major Stakeholders
This effect is important to sustain life on Earth. However, if greenhouse gases increase by too much it can be troublesome. It changes the balance between the incoming sun energy and outgoing energy. Resulting in climate change.

Volcanic eruptions are a big part of natural climate change.
When volcanic eruptions occur they throw huge amounts of dust and ash into the atmosphere. Resulting in a reduction in the amount of heat entering the solar system.
Earth is on a tilt of 22-25 degrees throughout a 41,000-year cycle. This difference in tilt affects how the sun shines on the earth. Places tilted closer to the sun receive more sunlight therefore being warmer.

Industry
Electricity
Homes and businesses
Waste
Some greenhouse gases are Methane(primarily by the oil and gas industry and agriculture. CO2 (transportation, heating in the house, cooking. Nitrogen(from farming, agriculture).
Agriculture
Burning fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil, and coal to produce most kinds of electricity.
Household waste and industrial waste release greenhouse gases during the process of decomposing.
Almost all transportation types(cars, trains, ships, and planes) are powered by fossil fuels such ad gasoline and diesel.
Many industries are heavily reliant on fossil fuels producing heat for making their products
A main use of fossil fuels is heat. The chemical we use in our homes or workspaces such as the fridge emit greenhouse gases.

Controversy
Over 200 governments have been invited and although some won't attend such as US presideny Joe Biden and China's Li Jinping they will be represented.
Its been 8 years since the agreement in paris and they haven't made much progress in reducing global warming.
The opening to do so is rapidly closing and COP28 will be the first time countries will acknowledge how off-track they are to achieveing this goal. One of their biggest goals are limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees.
Some of the highest profile attendees would be King Charles lll, who will deliver an address at the opening ceremony. The absent US President Joe Biden and China's Xi Jinping have pledged to significantly increase the use of renewable energy.
COP has always been looking forward to phase out but Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the most renowned oil and gas company in the world says phase down. As opposed to his business
Dubai is one of the biggest oil-producing countries but they are hosting the conference, and although talking about going green they are planning on expanding their oil production.

10% of Canada's greenhouse gas emmisions are from animals. Their feces are emmitted into the air. When it decays it always give off lot's of greenhouse gases. The decaying of plants materials such as foods crops play a big role in this.
Mitigation means reducing the consequence of a problem. To mitigate Climate change we must act on its main causes. One example of a main greenhouse gas we produce is CO2. Chnaging our lifestyle just a bit can change CO2 levels in the atmosphere. Here are some examples that people can do. Replace fossil fuels for solar or wind energy. Try to limit your use of fossil fuels for transportation.

The adapt is to change to deal with a sudden change in the situation. In the case of climate change we must adjust to the ways climate change are affecting us in an attempt to rpotect ourselves and our planet. Adaptations include: protecting water from the erffects of climate change. Building parks and green spaces to reduce greenhouse gases.
