Natural Causes
Changing to green energy
Human-made sources of greenhouse gases:
Government leaders, industry leaders, NGOs (environmental organizations)
"Antonio Guterres: we must reverse course." " the gap from where we are to where we promise to be with the climate at 1.5.
two major groups: Phase Down vs Phase out
The Controversy
this could involve
planting crops that could adapt and grow in the new climate. Enriching healthcare to treat will adjust and grow into the new climate. temp and extreme weather such as building a larger storage place for people.
We live in the Holocene
for the last 10,000 global temps have been stable.
Anthropocene
this is also called the age of humans
Demands
Poorer Countries are demanding compensation from richer countries. the Global South has been promising to give them 100 billion dollars but they have been giving them 72-80 billion dollars.
Goals
COP28 is trying to address issues that are happening like the climate increasing by 1.5 degrees. Net 0 by 2025. triple green energy sources by 2030.
Peak oil
Prediction is that by 2030 demands for coal oil and natural gasses will peak.
Hydro, Solar, Geothermal, wind, tidal, nuclear. solar costs are going down 80% since 2010.
Canada
Last year only $2.8 billion in solar energy and $37 billion in oil and gas. This year solar energy is catching oil and gas.

This year COP28 is happening in Dubai
98% of Dubai's fuel is run on fossil fuels. they want to increase the fuels to 5 million gallons per day. Dubai is distracting people with a solar plant but they are using fossil fuels instead. Sultan Al Jaber said that we cant phase out and that it would be impossible because he said that we need oil and gas or we would be living in caves and cooking over campfires 3 months ago.
Countries from around the world.
People from around the world are going.
Scientists think that humans are contributing to making Greenhouse gases.
- Electrical production: We burn fossil fuels such as natural gas, oils, and coal, to produce electricity.
- Transportation: When you drive a gas-powered car it releases gasses that harms the planet.
- Waste: Household wastes and industrial wastes release greenhouse gasses as they decompose.
Volcanos when they erupt they can produce a lot of dust and ash which go high into the atmosphere.
The sun has different power periods which gives more energy than usual which occurs in cycles of about 11 years.
