Organisms
Cells
Cells are the basic building blocks of life. All living multicellular organisms are made up of different cells. Single-celled organisms are cells which can survive on their own, without being in a proper system.

Organs
Organs are sets of tissues specially organised to perform a certain function. Organs are located in very specific areas which are suited for their intended purpose. There are 78 organs in the human body, and about 5-8 of them are vital for maintaining homeostasis.
Heart: Centre of the circulatory system. Comprised mostly of muscular tissue. Pumps blood throughout the body. Once it stops beating, you die.
Lungs: Main organ in the respiratory system. Like the heart, it is found in the thorax. Allows for breathing, where oxygen is inhaled and carbon dioxide is exhaled. Oxygen travels into and around the bloodstream when pumped by the heart.
Brain: Comprised of nervous tissue. Controls the entire human body. Allows for thought, movement and control of the senses. Some reflexes such as breathing and blinking are involuntary, whereas others like writing or a pushup are voluntary.
Liver: Largest internal organ. Found above the stomach. Metabolises nutrients, produces bile, and detoxes the body. Also has a role in regulating glucose levels within the blood.
Stomach: One of the main organs in the digestive system. Extends from the esophagus into the GI tract. Food enters from the esophagus, where it is broken down through acids in the stomach. Afterwards, it is taken to the intestines to be released.
Kidneys: One of the main renal organs. Found in the back of the abdomen, whereas the stomach and liver are in the front. Filters waste from water and turns it into urine. Also plays a role in regulation of fluids in the body.
Systems
Systems are groups of organs which are usually found together in order to perform their function successfully.
Digestive system: Processes nutrients and releases waste. Made of the stomach, liver, pancreas, GI tract, appendix and gallbladder.
Endocrine system: Regulates the body's functions such as growth, reproduction, metabolism etc. Mostly comprised of different glands.
Skeletal system: Made of the 206 bones in the body forming the skeleton. Provides the structure for the body. Most muscles form around the bones.

Muscular system: Made of muscular tissues. Enables movement and generates heat for the body. Can grow stronger and larger if a person exercises.
Renal System: Comprised of the kidneys, bladder, ureters and urethra. Filters waste from water and other sources to be excreted in the form of urine.
Respiratory system: Made of the lungs, bronchi and other organs around it. Takes in oxygen to be transported throughout the body, and releases carbon dioxide.
Integumentary system: Composed of the skin. Protects the body from threats such as germs, viruses, trauma etc.
Circulatory system: Made of the heart and blood vessels. Transports blood throughout the body in order to provide organs and systems with oxygen. If it fails, all organs will shut down from lack of oxygen.
Immune system: Protects the body from diseases and foreign invaders.. Comprised of white blood cells, lymph nodes, T-cells, etc.
Nervous system: Made most notably of the brain and other tissues extending from it. Controls the body. If damaged, the person could die or lose all bodily control.
