Identify 3 Problems faced by the agricultural sector in Malaysia
Marketing

Technical
This is a problem faced by many farmers especially in places where other economic activities are perceived to generate higher income. For example, agricultural land used for manufacturing.
Low Productivity and Relatively Low Growth
This is mainly due to the use of traditional approach in farming and lack of knowledge among the farmers. In addition, farmers are generally old and the younger generations are not interested in the agricultural sector.

Product Based Approach
Transforming Fishermen from Traditional to Technologically-Equipped
This program aims to produce modern, commercial and competitive fishermen, to achieve the objective of making the coastal fishing sector productive and profitable via sustainable management.
For this purpose, LKIM has implemented several approaches, among them reducing the number of unproductive vessels and replacing ageing wooden vessels with fiberglass (FRP) vessels.
The plummeting productivity of most traditional vessels stems from various factors including vessels that are small, old and lacking engine power, low use of technology and overdependence on traditional equipment.
It also has broadened fisheries up to 12 nautical miles, practiced target fishing at Sea Farms and provided capital loans through the Fishermen's Fund to vessels owners who are interested in collaboratively managing a vessel.
Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) has taken the initiative to implement the Fisherman Transformation Program to increase the productivity and income of traditional fishermen.
Specifications for all the vessels have been standardised in terms of design and construction materials with facilities such as toilets, cabins, fish holds and kitchens for the crew's comfort at work as well as for hygiene assurance and better fish handling on the vessels.
