Hyperthyroidism, Graves Disease

How it happens:
1.) In the development of the autoimmune disorder, the body attacks itself.
2.) In Grave's Disease, the body produces antibodies (TRAb and TSI) that mimic the action of the thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).
3.) These particular antibodies mimic the action of TSH, which binds and activates the TSH receptors on the thyoird gland.
4.) Normally, TSH stimulates the thyroid to produce thyroid hormones in regulated amounts, However, these antibodies over stimulate the thyroid gland, leading to an excessive production and release of thyroid hormones.
