Troops in Spanish Morocco vs Republican government
Led by Sanjurjo, Mola and Franco. the plan was to seize power in major cities.
It developed into a 3-year war
The march to Madrid (July 1936 - March 1937)
Spanish troops (Morocco, led by Franco).
They advanced as far as Extremadura and Toledo to taking Madrid.
The other part of the army troops were loyal to the republic and prepared to defend the capital.
November: The Republic government moved to Valencia.

The Northern Campaigns (March-October 1937)
After Franco had gone to the North of Spain and taken Bilbao, the northern minin area was now in rebel hands.
Then, the Bombing of Guernica by the German Condor Legion took place.
The republicans launched offensives in Brunete (Madrid) and Belchite (Zaragoza) in an attempt to divide the Nationalist Army. Nevertheless, Franco was able to take the Cantabrian strip.
The Mediterranean advance (December 1937 - November 1838)
by February 1938, nationalist troops arrived Teruel, advanced through Aragón and reached the Mediterranean coast.
the Republican goverment joined all the forces for the Battle of Ebro from July to November 1938 just to protect Cataluña.
Although after all these efforts, the republican troops had to retreat.
The end of the war
(November 1938 - April 1939)
Cataluña occupied by nationalists (1939)
Republican regions: Madrid and from Valencia to Almería
Juan Negrín (prime minister 1937) wanted to continue war

Young volunteers from different countries ( diffrent ideological backgrounds)
WHY?
Because they felt fighting against fascim in Spain was a fight for the country
Revel Narionalist side
Support of political right, Carlists monarchists, CEDA voters, army, large landowners, Catholic church and small landowners.
They were also supported by the Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, both supplied troops and equipment, but this didn't come for free. Due to this, this side accumulated huge debts this 2 countries, which had to be repaid the post-war period.
