Dystopian: Games and worlds that have fallen into anarchy. An event had happened and the world had changed for the worst.

Fantasy: Games and worlds that have fantasy creatures, magic and usually primitive technology.
Gothic: Vampires, dark castles and black clothing dominates the genre with a focus on the darkness of the world.
Dark Fantasy: A fantasy world that focuses on the disturbing aspects of there worlds, this is usually, in effort, to create a horror game

Gaslamp Fantasy: Example of a fused genre, taking elements of victorian time technology and architecture etc with fantasy elements that are grounded within the setting. Shares some common ground with steampunk.
Games based around gaslamp fantasy; Nightingale (Upcoming game), Sunless Sea, Dishonored Series, Final Fantasy VI and Midnight Train.
Medieval Fantasy: "Historical fantasy is a category of fantasy and genre of historical fiction that incorporates fantastic elements (such as magic) into a more "realistic" narrative. There is much crossover with other subgenres of fantasy; those classed as Arthurian, Celtic, or Dark Ages could just as easily be placed in historical fantasy. Stories fitting this classification generally take place prior to the 20th century."
Mix of a medieval setting with fantasy elements that often draw from folklore of the time such as dragons etc.
