Labelling - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Teacher sets out to test hypothesis and looks to see if it is confirmed or contradicted
      - For example, might give a black student a particular task to do and see if the student is engaging or misbehaving
    - - The results from the test become solidified and now the label is attached to the student
      - The teacher will now feel like they know who the student is and what will make them misbehave
      - This is more based on stereotype than evidence
      - Student may internalise their behaviour
      - For example, teacher knows that student misbehaves, so won't allow them on a trip
    - - Teacher generates predictions on pupils in helping formulate labels
      - For example, sees a black student and assumes they are a trouble-maker
