Habitants mean "inhabitants," people who inhabit the land
To gain the right to establish a farm, habitants had to clear the land, plant crops, build a house, pay the seigneurs miller to grind the grain into flour, and and give a few days of labour to each seigneur.
Seigneurs
Most seigneurs were men from noble families, although they could also be women and commoners.
In order to keep their land, seigneurs had to recruit settlers, or habitants, to farm the land
Seigneuries were large large plots of land which were owned by seigneurs, or another word for them, landlords

They would import goods from France and traded the goods with the Innu, Ouendat, Anishinabe, and other First Nations group for fur.

Voyageurs were men from New France who travelled between the fur merchants of Montreal and the fur trade posts of the Great Lakes

This term comes from they way some men in New France engaged in the fur trade, by running into the forest
