A Tempo Tale
Ideas
I always knew I wanted to make a rhythem game, its quite unique and can fit under the client breifs requirements easily.
I originally wanted to have a plat-former game where you build the level as you go. it would auto-scroll and you'd have to strategically place objects in order to form a level for your character to pass. Each level gets harder by making the objects you place more obscure. In order to get 3 starts you'd have to use a limited amount of objects.
-
Each level with have a specific song to tap to the beat to, "Tempo Tale"
Your scores can range from: Failure (90% missed) - Okay (75% missed) - Good (50% missed) - Awesome (25% missed) - Amazing (10% missed) - Perfect (0% missed)
Genre
Rhythm
From the start, i always knew i wanted to incorporate a rhythm element into my game.
I really like this genre in mobile games as I have always found them quite hooking and easy to understand.
I think this genre of game would be easy to fit under the client briefs 5 minute time limit, this is party why i chose this option.
-
I think these games are easy to fit into a mobile game environment as you only need very few buttons to play.
Story
-
Combining this idea with rhythm can make both a fun and involved game that requires very little skill.
The reason i chose to do this is mainly because i enjoy story games and it may be quite unique to have in a mobile game.
To include this element in my game i will have a menu with all acquired pieces to the story and will have them stored. Per level you get a new part to the story of the main character.
Platformer (old idea)
Originally i wanted my game to be a platform game but i moved away from this as i think its too typical for a mobile game. I wanted to make something different.
I wanted it to be where per level you acquire new materials to build your characters level and power. There would be three hidden coins per level.

Character
-
-
I want the character to be music itself, i want it to be in a different scene each time. Every time you miss a beat, the music fluctuates or stops, this will affect the story being told as it will interrupt the people. people would look at the source of the music. If you get little score on a level you will have to restart in order to both continue and get a new feature to the developing story board.
Your scores can range from: Failure (90% missed) - Okay (75% missed) - Good (50% missed) - Awesome (25% missed) - Amazing (10% missed) - Perfect (0% missed)
Say as if you play as a radio in a cafe and if you fail the music stops and disturbs the people who stop talking. If you dont fail, the people will continue talking and form a story.
Inspirations
Originally, I was quite inspired by Ketchapp games. They are a games design company who make transiet 2D games for mobile. This fits under the client breif entirley and is a good start for inspiration.
-
Im quite inspired by The Legend Of Zelda Games, I think they are a very good fit for the visuals im going for.
-
Sounds
New song per level as its a rhythm game, only need to make one level!
Setting
My setting is going be changing per level, as we only have to produce a single level, I only need to design one environment.
