Inhalation
ribcage moves outwards & up, volume increase, pressure decreases
lungs expands, air is drawn into lungs
internal intercostal muscle relax, external intercostal muscle contracts (IIIR)
abdominal muscle relax, diaphragm contracts and flattens
Exhalation
lungs contract, air is forced out of lungs
ribcage moves inwards and down, volume decreases, pressure increases
internal intercostal muscle contracts, external intercostal muscle relax(EIIC)
abdominal muscle contracts, pushes diaphragms up (relax)
