People had piggy banks. The word pygg was a type of clay used to make pygg jars that they used to save coins. By the 18th century the word piggy bank was used.
At the start of the middle ages people lived in the countryside. In medievil England more people began to live in towns. London became overcrowded and a dirty city to live in.

Merchants were important and influential they traded silk, spices and other goods from overseas.

They stuffed birds with birds to eat and sometimes stuffed as many as 17 birds inside each other . People ate with spoons, knives and their hands they had no forks.

People used to pay for things by exchanging eggs, spice, ale and eels.
